It’s easy to become absorbed by Harry Potter. A new study reveals which areas of a reader’s brain are active in processing words and sentences to create a vivid experience.

If the brain changes whenever we read or whenever it becomes more or less active, doesn't that mean in whatever we do, the brain is changing? I don't think it's just when we read. It is just the amount of activity which will change the brain. For example, if you're doing a math problem, your brain is probably more active than if you are eating, so the blood flowing to the brain will be greater when you read or do a math problem, or any activity that requires heavy concentration, than you will when you're just eating or sleeping. However, the brain is always changing now matter what.
The article starts out saying that our brain turns words into vivid stories, however, the article only discusses mapping people's brain activity in an MRI while they are reading. There is never any comparison between people's brain activity when they are watching vivid stories to see if the activity is the same when they are reading vivid stories. It would have been helpful if there had been a discussion of what happens when people watch vivid stories rather than just have a discussion about people's brain activity when they read.
I think that the title of this article is slightly misleading, because anything you do requires brain activity, so it's not just Harry Potter. But I do think that it is amazing that they could find which word you are reading just from the brain activity.
I think this is really cool. People can map the brain using a machine to tell what the brain is thinking. I think that is awesome. I do, as Emerson said, though, think that the title is misleading. Your brain always has to work in anything that you do, even the most simple things like eating and sleeping.
I found this article pretty interesting, because you are using a machine to detect your brain activity you can see how active your brain is. Agreeing with almost everyone, I do think that your brain isn't testing on its activeness just by reading, because according to research, there are so many other things that relate to helping your brain be active such as non-video game related things, anything having to do with education like learning new words, doing spelling exercises, physical activity, puzzles, naps, working with your hands, and others.
I was slightly confused by this article, but I think this was an interesting
article. I never knew that one word could have as many as 195 meanings! I agree with the fact that reading is like watching a movie iniside your head, and especially when you are reading Harry Potter.
Even though reading isn't the only think that changes your brain, in fact everything you do changes you brain, but I think reading will definitely increase the brain activity because when you read, you are required to visualize the scenes in your head.
I think that this article was really cool. I thought that maybe they didn't really need to flash one word at at time, and I agree with Emerson about the misleading title. In addition, I think that it's super cool how people can find out what you're reading based on the images being imagined in your brain.
