This was a good article. Now I know how the United States is doing. Also, for women in STEAM's day (on March 8,) on average in the United States girls outperformed boys by 9 points, slightly more than the average OECD gap of 8 points. Yay for women! Also, this showed me that the US is doing ok. It seems that we have some ups and downs, with slightly higher or lower scores (mostly.) The only thing that wasn't in there, and that I think we, as a community should address is obesity, and for me less sugar. I always crave sugar and think that it's okay to eat a lot, but I should be more aware and concerned, because it leads to a lot of bad things, including diabetes:

Thanks to Ben for this blog post, and now I know the statistics of the United States.

The US, when I looked a couple months ago, was somewhere around 20th in the world in math. It was horrifying. Not to be mean, but some of the people I know who don't go to Mirman are kinda dumb. Like my friends from my old school, I have a hard time staying patient while trying to explain what PEMDAS is. I am SO happy that girls prove to be better than boys! YAY! At least the US isn't completely failing. I completely agree with Natalie about the sugar. I feel the US has obesity issues, along with Mexico and some other countries. I crave sugar too, but you have to control it. Diabetes are a bad idea, so don't drown in sugar. I looked for websites like this and couldn't find this, so I am really happy that this was on the blog because in a book it said US was 25th in the world in math and when I read that I thought, "Man, except for my school-mates, I live with fools." The US isn't too great with science either but we aren't the worst, and for some other countries who are first or second in math and science look down at us and laugh, and I don't want tourists to think that when they take a vacation to LA or NY or anywhere else in the USA, that they are surrounded by simpletons who don't know anything. I know the countries who are academically superior to us probably think they're all that in a bag of chips, but the US could be better. There was a scientific study about schools without uniforms focus on appearance more than they do academics. And it's not just that. Junk food, inappropriate clothes, etc. Women in STEAM actually reinstates, for most people I know, at least, the fact that they have to focus more on school than what's in their closet. This is kind of getting a little off topic. I really liked this article and I hope that girls can keep being superior to boys, :), and I also hope that there will be more articles like this in the future discussing this issue and relating issues in the future for better life in the USA and everywhere else, so that we can be put on the top of the charts in everything positive. Let's strive for first place in math and science. GO USA!!

I thought this was a very interesting article. I wish they had talked a little more in depth, instead of comparing every single statistic. I think that the US is doing very well. For most things we are above average with is great! I really liked to see that 90% of the population have somebody to rely on in a time of need. I think that happiness is a really big part of our lives because if you are not happy, you have no reason to live. Why would you want money if it didn't make you be able to do things that make you happy? Why would you want to eat good food if it didn't make you happy? I also agree with Natalie and Grace. We eat way to much sugar and that causes diabetes and obesity. If we can prevent these things, there would be less people sick and dead, and more people happy!
