It seems amazing that bacteria can acquire immunity to certain antibiotics so quickly. This means that we will always be required to find a new antibiotic in order to stop the new bacteria with the immunity mutation. This is why I think it is so important to find a sustainable solution to bacteria. And when I thought about this, I thought: Why don't we just find some medicine or substance that destroys bacteria in general, whether it unites all bacteria with the structure or method of attacking. However, I realized many problems emerged with that idea. First, the vast majority of bacteria are helpful. Second, Bacteria are all different organisms, but they are just classified in the same category (bacteria). For example E. Coli is different from Salmonella, which is why we need different antibiotics to treat each one. This is why I feel this area of medicine is so hard, but definitely fascinating.
I thought that this video was very interesting because it knew different organizations that were working on new antibiotics, it talked about SUPER BACTERIA, and it showed and talked about how bacteria can evolve. I thought it was very reassuring when the video talked about a organization that is producing new antibiotics to defend our bodies from SUPER BACTERIA. I love the way that all the people and bacteria were portrayed. I also like the website that was used for this video. I have lots of experience with ted and find it very effective for research. I didn't know that ebola was referred to as a SUPER BACTERIA. I thought all diseases where classified as the same and didn't know there were any differences. I am very glad there Rhea shared this video with us.
